For a late Christmas present a good friend of ours gave me a tiny doll house kit. I can't actually fit any of my dolls in it because it is way to small!!! The Kit had lots of little pieces of wood and random tiny objects. The directions weren't the greatest, but their pictures where pretty good. One by one I started assembling my house. First the downstairs, lighting, Then upstairs. I used at least 2 bottles of supper glue! I learned very quick that it can glue fingers together. Before I new it my house was finished!!! The house took me approximately 24 hours to build (give or take a few). The Steps to completion: My finished House:

Dad, Mom, & I went to Boone (Iowa). There we went to the Train museum and rode the Boone Train. We got to ride in a caboose. It was not what I expected. I thought it would be more modern but I was wrong. It was old & rustic. Even though it was cold inside the caboose and outside the caboose, it was worth it! We took blankets, and where sure glad for them! All together it was quite an adventure!!! At the museum we watched a video about trolleys.
Here are a few facts about Iowa trolleys: - The first street cars where driven by horses. - Running a horse street car was around 20 cents per mile. - The first horse street cars in Iowa began 1868 in Des Moines & Dubuque. Then in 1869 Davenport, Clinton, & Council Bluffs. - Key City Electric Street Railway ran the first street car in Dubuque. Last week I decided to try to make a new apple crisp recipe that my mom got from a friend. The recipe wasn't gluten-free, so I changed it up a little. The first time I made it we ate it all up that night, so the next time I made a double batch. I have made it for company and they seem to enjoy it. The apple crisp is really yummy with ice-cream!
Maree, Emmilee, & I went to Grandpa & Grandma Bean's house to help Grandpa do Honey. First Grandpa cut off the ends of the honey using a hot scraper. Then he put the honey in the honey spinner (strainer). After that all off us cousins took turns spinning the handle of the honey strainer. By spinning the honey combs, it caused the honey to come out of the comb. At the bottom of the honey strainer there is a spout that you open up and all the honey comes out. Grandma made all of us fresh rolls. The fresh honey and fresh rolls where very delicious together!
My Grandpa & Grandma Earley took some friends of our family (that where visiting from New Jersey), my Aunt Allyson, Mom, & I to the Matchstick Marvels museum in Gladbrook. The museum featured spectacular structures made by Pat Acton out of wood matchsticks. So far Pat Acton has used the total of 7,238,000 matchsticks to make these amazing marvels. Here are some pictures of his work of art: The Matchstick Notre Dame CathedralThis picture is of my friend Julia from New Jersey and I. In back of us is a model of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
These are some pictures of clouds that I have taken over the summer. I used to not look at the sky very much, because it was always there. But I think God has been teaching me to stop and look at the sky. You would be surprised at all the many different clouds that God makes in the sky. I hope this will encourage you to stop and look up at the sky.
Here are some pictures of a storm cloud I took a few weeks ago. I think that clouds are so mysterious the way they all look different and no two are alike.
Like I have said in other blog posts I LOVE flowers. One of the reasons I love flowers is because I know God Made flowers and when I'm with flowers I feel even more closer to God. I really like this season of the year because of the sunflowers. their sooooo beautiful. I did not plant any sunflowers this year but the birds did. So I will not take any credit for planting this pretty flower. well, I guess God should get all the credit since he did make all the sunflowers and flowers in the world!
We have a family camera that no one uses. So I claimed it as my own and started experimenting with it. There are lots of different settings on the camera. One of my favorites is the flower setting. I LOVE flowers and so I thought that it would be fun to do a photo shoot with my Polly Pockets standing beside different flowers. I am really excited how pretty the pictures turned out. |
