Our poor suburban was turkey bait. Dad was driving home from work and a turkey started to cross the road. Suddenly a truck passed dad and scared the turkey. It flew up and hit the driver side of the suburban. Dad felt glass hitting his face which meant the poor old suburban had been defeated and broken by a not so bright turkey. Thankfully, the day after the turkey wreck, some car glass people fixed the suburban windshield and now it looks as good as new.

For our family vacation we went to Kentucky. It takes around 8 hours without any stops. We stayed at a little house in Williamstown, KY. The Ark was only 5 minutes away. There is a really fun outdoor petting zoo with camel rides. I got to ride on one with Emmilee. In the bottom of the Ark is a big gift shop. I bought an adorable stuffed animal elephant. The Ark Encounter is a replica of Noah's Ark. It is 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, & 51 feet tall. The Ark is so big that you could fit 450 semi-truck trailers in it! As you can see, the Ark is AMAZING! The Creation Museum is in Petersburg, KY. There are really neat insect and fossil displays. I really enjoyed the outdoor park & petting zoo. At the park they had a small zip line (that is free) and BIG zip line ( you have to pay to ride). The small zip line was fun for my whole family. In the Museum there was a spectacular Planetarium and 4D special effects theater with real wind & rumbling seats. We watched a short video about creation. I would definitely encourage you to go to the Ark Encounter & Creation Museum. The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens is in Cincinnati, OH. Cincinnati is near the border of Kentucky. Only the Ohio River separates Cincinnati from Kentucky. The Cincinnati Zoo is the second oldest zoo opening in 1875. It covers 74 acres and has a little safari train and carousel. I had a lot of fun going on the train and carousel. Thankfully Kentucky's flowers are blooming ahead of Iowa's flowers, so we where able to see a lot of beautiful tulips and many other flowers in the Botanical Garden. The zoo also had a 4D theater with mist, wind, rumbling seats, things in each seat to poke your back, & air that blows at your legs and makes you feel like something is touching you ( it is a really freaky feeling). We watched a 14 minute movie about the Republic Of Congo's jungle. It was a little scary with the 4D special affects. A lot of times I felt like snakes where slithering around my legs. Hope you can go some time. -Aymee Thanksgiving break my Dad, Mom, my two sisters Emmilee and Maree, & I went Christmas tree shopping with a friend of ours named Lennae. She stayed at our house over thanksgiving break. We went to Wickiup Hill Tree Farm. While we were there I had hot-coco and a monster cookie. Our dog Kolbee really enjoyed being with us. There were looooooots of people there. Once we found the tree we liked we cut it down and carried it down the big hill. Then we put on top of our car and went home.
I made kelp capsules for my Mom & Dad. Kelp is good for thyroid health, it keeps bones strong, & it has a high supply of iodine. We give our goats kelp to eat. Making kelp capsules can be a little tricky. Here are the steps. 1. First you take the capsules apart. 2. Then you place the capsule halves in the top and bottom holes . 3. Next you put the kelp in the slots with the capsule halves in them. You need to pack the kelp down really well . 4. Once you are done packing the kelp you put the top piece and the bottom piece together and press down to close the capsules. 5. Lift up the top of the capsule maker and the finished capsules will be attached. 6. Remove the capsules and store them in a jar.
Our family has a tradition of packing Christmas Child boxes each year. I enjoy going to stores and picking out fun toys, comfy clothing, & cool school supplies. It is a really neat way to support many children around the world. It's very sad to think about all the children that face hardship and need Jesus and someone to comfort them. That is why I'm thankful for Samaritan's Purse. One way we can support Samaritan's Purse is by praying for them. We all need prayer and Gods guidance. I always look forward to packing boxes. If you have any questions on how to pack a Christmas Child box, just contact me.
For our family vacation we went to West Salem, Wisconsin. We stayed in a cabin at Neshonoc Lakeside Camping Resort. We had lots of fun kayaking on the lake. The lake is not the cleanest, so we didn't go swimming. Thankfully there was a very nice outdoor swimming pool & hot tub! We did a lot of swimming. You can swim even when it is cold out because the pool is heated. We also went on bike rides. There where lots of places to ride our bikes. We rode around the camp ground and on a bike trail in West Salem. It was mostly chilly while we where there and it rained at least once a day. When it did rain we napped, watched movies, & hung out in the cabin. Except some times even though it was drizzling it didn't keep us from going on bike rides. Another fun thing about the camp site was that they had a play ground. There also was a basket ball court & a volleyball net. We drove around the Amish area and stopped at different cheese factories. At one of the cheese factories in Amish area we got to ride in a wagon. I had soooo much fun on our family vacation. 😊
Last Wednesday I took these pictures. I looked outside that night and saw how pretty the sunset was. So I decided to go out and take a picture for my journal. I really like the beauty of the sunset.
My cousin Victoria and I did a presentation for the Linn County Fair. In the presentation we showed how to make Healthy Bites (no-bake cookies) and talked about the health benefits of each ingredient. After we were judged, we were proud to get a State Fair award. So in August we went to the Iowa Sate Fair and did our presentation, winning the highest award we could get there (Excellence). While we were at the State Fair we also got to go on rides and see the animals. Click here for the recipe. Click below to see my cousin's blog post about our presentation: 4-H fun!... The pictures are of us at State Fair. |
